Jule Ann will bring her workshop session on reading books on the I phone to the Penn Del AER conference to be held in Harrisburg. The Penn Del AER Annual conference is a leading resource for teachers and rehabilitation professionals in this region to develop and promote the highest quality of service to students and adults with vision impairment and blindness. Jule Ann has presented on technology subjects at this venue for the past three years.

Continuing on the technology presentation front, Jule Ann will present a workshop session at the CSUN Technology Conference for Persons with Disabilities in San Diego. This will be her second experience as speaker and she will discuss the many ways to read books on the I phone. This international conference draws professionals from many disciplines in assistive technology and education from around the world.

Vision Simulation on the Line! EZ2C Foundation and the Radnor High School Girls Basketball team demonstrated the challenges of various vision conditions using goggles that produced the effects of macular degeneration, diabetes, glaucoma, and cataracts. Four girls stepped up to the foul line and tried their best to sink a shot. They all said the hardest part was catching the return ball, “it seemed to come out of nowhere” states one brave athlete. The crowd all applauded the efforts and all learned that vision loss presents challenges but with the right support and training the goals can be met.
Technology Session Road Trips! Jule Ann Lieberman will be presenting a workshop session at the ATIA 2012 Conference in Orlando. The Assistive Technology Industry Association is a national organization of professionals and vendors dedicated to improving the lives of persons with disabilities through the use of assistive tools and technology. Jule Ann has attended this conference for many years but this year will be her first presentation. Her topic will discuss the transition from using the Windows operating system to the Mac from the blind/vision impaired operator perspective.

Sharing Knowledge and Friendship! The American Council of the Blind Mid Atlantic Affiliates Convention brought Jule Ann Lieberman once again to Baltimore for an opportunity to share technology sessions and provide hands on training to volunteers as human guides during the convention. Jule Ann was pleased to work with a dedicated group of Girl Scouts as they learned the best technique to assist a person with vision loss to travel to the various meeting rooms safely and quickly

Collaboration and Teamwork! Executive Director Jule Ann Lieberman has been elected to fill a vacant position on the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Council of the Blind. She looks forward to working alongside and learning from many talented individuals working together in advocacy and who enhance the lives of persons with vision loss across the state of Pennsylvania.

Jule Ann Lieberman has been awarded a scholarship as a Delta Gamma Fellow to attend the Josephine L. Taylor Leadership Conference by the American Foundation for the Blind being held in Seattle from March 10-12. She was given this opportunity as a graduate student at Salus University studying Low Vision Rehabilitation Therapy. She is one of only seventeen students nationwide and the single awardee from Salus University to be given the honor of this scholarship. “I am looking forward to meeting many well respected professionals in the field of services for persons with vision loss and blindness” sates Jule Ann. She will return with many new innovations, research findings and valuable networking contacts worldwide..

Jule Ann Lieberman will be presenting a workshop at the 2011 Penn-Del AER Conference Many Voices, One Song Professional Working in Concert in Harrisburg being held from April 27-29. Her workshop will demonstrate and evaluate the use of the Apple I Pad and the Kindel 3 for reading electronic books most notably textbooks. She will also represent Salus University as a student volunteer. “I will be waring a few hats but hopefully all will fit well”she says with humor. This is the third year Jule Ann will be presenting in the field of electronic or digital audio book technology at this prestigious conference for professionals working in services and education of persons with vision loss and blindness.. |
